Announcement: GV Discover Beta App Is Now Available on Apple App Store

GV Discover has entered beta.

This milestone reflects months of design, testing, and iteration informed by real-world use and professional input.

We are sharing this update with our partners because GV Discover is not being built in isolation. It is being shaped alongside organizations, clinicians, orientation and mobility professionals, and accessibility leaders who understand the complexity of independent navigation.

What GV Discover Is Designed to Do

GV Discover is a smartphone-based awareness application created to support blind and visually impaired individuals in everyday environments.

Its role is simple and specific: to reduce cognitive effort by making surroundings easier to understand through sound, context, and timely information.

GV Discover does not replace orientation and mobility training.

  • It does not replace the white cane.

  • It does not attempt to automate decision-making.

Instead, it provides situational awareness when it is needed, allowing users to move with greater predictability and fewer interruptions.

What “Beta” Means in Practice

The beta release represents a stable foundation with room for improvement.

Core functionality is reliable and usable today. At the same time, we are intentionally releasing GV Discover in a controlled phase to observe how it performs across varied environments, use cases, and workflows.

Beta means:

  • The product is functional and safe to use

  • Feedback directly influences prioritization

  • Refinements are expected and planned

Who the Beta Is Intended For

The GV Discover beta is intended for:

  • Partner organizations conducting pilots or evaluations

  • Orientation and Mobility professionals assessing practical integration

  • Accessibility teams exploring awareness tools within broader programs

  • Early collaborators contributing structured feedback

Current Capabilities

GV Discover currently supports awareness tasks commonly encountered in daily environments, including:

  • Reading printed text such as menus, labels, signs, and documents

  • Describing surroundings on demand to establish context

  • Identifying nearby objects within a user’s immediate environment

Areas of Active Refinement

Based on early use and partner feedback, our current focus areas include:

  • Improving consistency and speed in text recognition

  • Increasing clarity in object descriptions

  • Reducing delays when requesting environmental context

  • Refining conversational interactions for more precise responses

How Partner Feedback Shapes Development

Feedback is evaluated across three dimensions:

  • Impact on cognitive effort

  • Reliability across environments

  • Compatibility with existing mobility practices

Accessing the Beta

GV Discover is now available through the Apple App Store as a beta release.

Access details, onboarding guidance, and support resources are provided directly to participating partners. We are managing distribution carefully to maintain quality and responsiveness during this phase.

If your organization is interested in participating or expanding involvement, we welcome that conversation.

What Comes Next

The GV Discover beta is one part of a broader GoVivid roadmap focused on awareness, mobility, and coordinated support.

Our next phase centers on:

  • Continued refinement of GV Discover based on partner-led insights

  • Preparation for expanded pilots

  • Alignment with future components of the GoVivid ecosystem

We appreciate the partners who are helping shape this work through thoughtful engagement and practical insight. This beta phase is an important step, and we value the role you play in building what comes next.
